Portland Animal Clinic Medical & Surgical Services
Our Objective
At the Portland Animal Clinic we offer you quality veternary service with the best possible care using the finest equipment and most up-to date methods avialable. We believe in an in-depth approach to animal health care and work with you in preventative as well as therapeutic care of your animal. This means we will make every effort to thoroughly investigate any problems your pet may have so we can correct the problem, rather than simply treating the symptoms.
Routine Vaccinations
Taking positive steps to prevent disease is better than any treatment after sickness occurs. A planned program of vaccinations can help your pet enjoy a long, healthy life. Vaccinations are an essential part of a good health maintenance program for your pet, providing immunity from contagious disease. These vaccinations provide a sort of health insurance. All animals boarded or hospitalized are required to be vaccinated annually. For dogs required vaccines are DHLPP, Corona Virus and Bordetella. Vaccines required for cats are FVRCP and FELV vaccines.
Other Medical Services
Medical services are offered as a part of our overall preventative management health plan as well as to address any medical conditions that arise with your pet. They include but are not limited to diagnostic lab work (fecal examinations, urinalysis, blood work, cytology, and histopathology), dentistry, internal medicine and medical management plans for various health challenges. Dr. Tulacz has a special interest in dermatology, especially difficult management cases.
Surgery
Standard ovariohysterectomies (spay) and orchidectomies (neuter) procedures are routine surgeries performed here. In addition abdominal, bone-joint, and cosmetic surgery is done Monday-Wednesday and Fridays. Many time surgeries are a "day" procedure and your pet can go home the same afternoon. Unless an emergency, please call for scheduling and estimates.
Questions and Calls
We will attempt to answer our clients' questions and inquiries over the phone to the extent possible, put please be aware that some can't be answered without examining your pet. We request that routine calls be made between the hours of 2pm and 6pm. Our staff is trained to answer many of your questions, but if you need to talk to the doctor, he will return your call as quickly as possible. However, if you have a pressing problem or emergency, please call at any time.
Hospitalization and Visiting Hours
Although we believe that most pets do better at home with their family, at times they may need to be hospitalized following surgery or for other care. Just as people like visitors when hospitalized, so does your pet. Visits can be made between the hours of 2pm and 6pm. Please call to make an appointment and to see if your pet is up to having visitors.
Fees for Service
Our goal is to provide quality care at a reasonable cost. We will be happy to discuss with you anticipated cost and we attempt to stay within the range of our estimates. If unforeseen complications arise, we will contact you. Our policy is that all fees be paid at the time of service or when your pet is released from the hospital. For your convenience, we accept cash, checks, Mastercard, Visa, money orders and travelers checks.
Who Are Our Patients?
We offer veterinary care for a broad variety of household pets including dogs, cats, birds, fish and other select exotics. We are not currently staffed for reptiles and spiders.
While You are Waiting
